I am doing a ntbackup to some external drives, but it has been failing about 2/3 the way through. when i look at the log files, it only shows "delayed write failed" and the destination file. is there any way i can find the files or folders that are triggering this error? Thanks

That sounds to me like a dodgy connection to your external disk, not an issue with the file itself. It's likely to be a larger file, but usually the issue is related to your disk subsystem or the memory used to cache the the file data before writing it. Check out this article for some places to look next:

How much data are you backing up vs attempting to back up?

Attempting to backup: 150G
backup file: 73G

This morning i even had to restart the server. Locked up and out of memory. this backup issue is effecting the entire server now

What's showing up in your app log? Which events? Any other events clustered near the time that the "delayed write" entry gets logged in your backup logs?

Last night I changed the destination drive to "Optimize for performance" and excluded a few suspicious share folders. I got the good news this morning that it worked! I actually think it was a corrupt file in one of the user share folders. Thanks everyone for the help.
