I created two server backups using NTBackup, writing the BKF files to disk. One image is 20GB and the other was 80GB. The 20GB image checks out fine, but when I try to restore from the 80GB file, I keep getting an "inconsistency in backup file" error message.

After researching, I found a single 3rd party article that said NTBackup is limited to 36GB when using a disk to disk backup. Can anyone confirm this limit (link to MS article would be best)? I would have thought a limitiation such as this would be more widely published.

Look in your system log I believe it is. Are there any errors or warnings with a source of mrxsmb?

No source mrxsmb to be found anywhere near the time the backup was taken.

There were no errors from Ntbackup; it said operation successful. What's odd is I took a backup of the exact same system and this time when I open the .bkf file it gives no errors.

This is a somewhat important archive backup, so I'm still a little concerned about a potential issue with the size.

There's no limit. The issue would be a connectivity or system resource issue.
