Hello

I am running a ntbackup shedule every night...
The tapes can hold 12 GB. When the first disk is backuped (out of 6) ntbackup asks for another tape because the first one is full. This isn't possible because the first (and for the moment only) disk beïng backuped only 1 GB of data.
When afterwards I want to manualy backup something on the tape it gives me errors. I have to erase the tape first before I can do anything with it...

Has anyone experienced something like this? What could be the cause of my backup not succeding?

My backup device is a HP tape drive (scsi).

thanx a lot!

Mim,

Run the HP Tape and Library Tools tests, especially the write test, go for firmware update if necessary. You can download it from HP website. It would tell you if you have any errors with your drive. Sometimes, there's no error found at all, and you still got to call their tech support to get the drive replaced, if it's still under guarantee. This happened a lot with HP Surestore Dat 24e where I work.

Cheers,

Joe
