Hi,

I'm planning expand our option11 by adding NTAK12, I believe this is possible. My questions are:

1. What is the interface between NTAK11 and NTAK12? (cables or cards?)
2. What specific overlay should I focus reading relative to this expansion?

Thanks in advance......

the 11 is a main cab the 12 is an exp cab.. the newer cab have a glass between the two and nothing more, a daughter board on your ssc card connects by fiber to the fider rec card in the exp.. software upgrade is not required put a card in slot 11 build a set and idc the card.. the opt 11 is unique that way, most of the sofware comes in the package

The NTAK12 is an older expansion cabinet. Is your current controller card an SSC card. If so refer to the Small System upgrade guide. You will not be able to use the TCP/IP connection for OTM, Symposium, or Callpilot with this configuration. If it is not an SSC card refer to the installation manuals that came with the OPT11. That will give you cable number to connect the AK11 and AK12 cabinets.

Hi JohnPoole,

Our option11 only have 1 slot for CPU and 10 slots for PE, the 10th slot is marked MM1 for meridian mail. Can we still add the NTAK12 on this system? We don't currently have SSC Card, can NTDK20GA Small System Controller card work with OPT11?

Hi mluckie,

Where can I find Small System Upgrade Guide? Is it available online?

Many many many thanks.....

i have a site at work that will have that manual, i'll paste the link here tomorrow. all the 11's i have worked on had a single processor slot and a slot 10 marked mm.. slot 10 is usable for stations if needed, just put a card in and cable it out. even the 1st 11 i installed (rls 16) had a 2nd cab.. the older ones had a fat cable with a huge square plug on each end and a ground strap. i'll see if my older manuals have the part number, as the 11's at the hosp have been changed to remotes or upgraded..

The part number for the cable to link the 2 cabinets is NTAK1204. You will have to check with different suppliers to see if anyone has one, I use CMS, there website is On the controller card, NTDK20GA, there is a long set of jumpers located in the right lower corner of the card, when looking at the component side, that has to be removed. This jumper tells the card if it is to use TCP/IP or if it is an expansion cabinet. Once you have done this the expansion cabint should work.

Hi Johnpoole, mluckie1

Thanks for the information, just one last help on the manuals. I will appreciate it very much if you will let me have a copy of the manuals needed.

Thank you very much..

short of faxing you 12,000 pages, every book you need is right here, , another thought is check with other end users in your area, the manuals are on cd now, and very easy to copy to your HD..
