Hi,
Hope I'm not off topic here. Here is a little problem I've had for a while that has me (and a few others) stumped.
We have 3 subnets, each at a different physical location.
Each subnet has it's own file and print server (same machine handles both functions).
All file and print servers run NT4 and the network is a NT4 based network with mostly Windows 2000 clients.
In the past when adding a printer from a 2000 client using the 'add printer wizard', when you click next to browse for a printer on the network, it would return a list of all PC's with shared printers but automatically expand the main print server of the subnet that the client resided on.
Now, for the last 6 months or so, this has stopped happening. When browsing for printers, the same list is still returned but the print server for the subnet is not automatically expanded. We made no changes around this time that I can see effecting this function.
After doing a lot of research I can find no mention of how this function is set up. Is it a Registry setting on the print server itself? Something to do with DHCP perhaps?
Hopefully someone out there knows about this.
Thanks,
Shayde.
