Currently on NT4 domain using exchange 5.5

Wanting to create a "NEWDOMAIN" running beside the "OLDDOMAIN" and maintain exchange 5.5 until the entire NT4 users/groups are running in the "NEWDOMAIN".

I am thinking to create a "NEWDOMAIN" at HQ and then move the remote sites over from the "OLDDOMAIN" into the "NEWDOMAIN" while leaving HQ on the old domain and maintaining exchange 5.5 servers.

Does this cause any issue with the users that are in the "NEWDOMAIN" from accessing there mailboxes?

I will need to create a trust relationship between the domains as users from the "NEWDOMAIN" will need to access files from HQ as well as SQL databases.

Once the remote sites are moved into the "NEWDOMAIN" I will move HQ over and move Exchange 5.5 to 2003 and the onto 2007.

Thanks

If users in the mailboxes for users in the new domain will still be on the Exch 5.5 server, you will have to install the Active Directory Connector on the Exch 5.5 server in order to migrate them to your new Exch 2003 server. Whether this will be necessary for them to access the mailboxes is another issue. I don't believe it is necessary, but since the mailboxes will be in a separate domain, they will need to authenticate to their email separately from their new domain.

Hmmmmm. Ignore the second and third words in my post. Poor on-the-fly editing!
