My WindowsNT Server was abruptly shut-down due to a power-fluctuation, and after that its not booting up. This is the message that its giving:

Windows NT could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\winnt\system32\\config\SYSTEM

What can I do to correct this problem. I had a package running on that system, which needs to be accessed somehow, ASAP!! Ash

If this system is s simple disk configuration... EG no RAID / NT mirror / NT Stripe...

Try removing the hard disk and inserting the disk into another Windows NT4 system, which should run a check disk on the dirty volumes. I've correct the error you've noted using this method a few times.

DONT insert the drive into a W2K system... This will cause the volumes on the disk to be converted to NFTS5 (automatically, can't be prevented)

Cheers
