I have two nt4.0 workstations on my network. User "A" can log on to her machine with a userid and password just fine. When she tries to log onto the second machine with her userid and password she gets an error that the "path is too long". User "B" has the same problem signing on to the second machine. I can log as the administrator with no problems.

Can some one provide any insight?.

Hey.
Have you tried re-creating the user profiles and user accounts?
Pritch.

I will try recreating the accounts. Thank you.

If user A can log onto a different machine without a problem, I wouldn't think the problem would lie in the users specific profile..or I would assume it would happen on any machine. You didn't mention, but are you using Server based profiles? Also, when you say you log in as Admin are you referring to a local or domain admin account?

This problem appears to be somewhat machine specific. It may have something to do with the way the environment is setup. Possibly the path environment. You may be exceeding the limit with the combination of the users environment and the system/machine environment. To get a feel for what environment works..compare user A's machine to user B's.

Right click on My Computer and select properties. Go to the Environment Tab and compare the System Variables between the two machines and note any differences..specifically the PATH statement.
