If I log on to a NT Workstation as Administrator, I do not have the option to share the drives. Help!

Where are you looking?
And what do you want to share?
No you cannot share Server drives form a Workstation.
You have to be at the server. or use the Remote Admin
You can share your own "C:\drive" and other local drives.
But not mapped drives. like F: and G: etc.
You question is vague. Do you want to share local drives to other members, or share drives located on another remote system?

You can:
Share local drives if the system policy permits.
Use Server Manager from the NT resource kit to manage shares on other systems that you have admin rights on.

You cannot:
Share mapped drives

OK Guys: Here goes - If I log onto an NT Workstation as administrator and double-click on My Computer and the right click on c: ( not f or g etc), I do not get the sharing option. The Workstation does participate in a domain. Come on DougP I know you have the answer.

Is the global Domain Administrators group a member of the workstations Local Administrators group? I believe this is a default, but it may have been altered.
Jeff
masterracker@hotmail.com

I forgot, Doug,

You CAN share server folders from a workstation if you are logged on to the workstation using an ID with domain admin rights and you use the old File Manager (winfile.exe)
Jeff
masterracker@hotmail.com

MasterRacker: Thanx for the response. Yep, domain admins is part of the local admin group. Any other ideas?

OK
Right click on the C: drive
Click On Properties
click on Security TAB
See what the Permissions are
Administrator should have "Full Control"
If not make it that way
Now if you can't do any of the above
Take ownership of the C: drive
In the security TAB is a take ownership button
and then you should be able to change the permissions.
dxd: It was as simple as starting the server service - thanx for that! Also to DougP and MasterRacker for your responses.
