Hello, I,m wondering if any of you out there could help me. I have a 3000 word paper to hand in on Monday about NT/IIS Vs Unix/Apache and I was wondering if anyone knew any good sites I could look at. I have just been to the library and I have a foot of books but nothing covers the differences and simularities between the OS's. Any help you experts have would be much apreciated.

Well i dont know that they have direct comparisons, but a good starting place would probably be :

- The home of Redhat Linux
- a usefull resource and forum site.
- home of Apache web servers
- Free software foundation & review site
- always running comparisons
- a good source for microsoft products
- excellent apache resource, news & reviews site

I would have to say, that Linux/Apache would be the way i would choose everytime, firstly stability, it hardly ever crashes.

The need to reboot is low.

Purely from a cost point of view, Linux - Free, Apache - Free, you only have to pay for the hardware.

But you do have to look at the support issues, linux/Unix can be a very specilised role, with alot of people shying away from it, and sticking to the micro$oft products, because the install is easier, the support is easier, all because of the easier GUI interface, rather than being faced with a unix/Linux Shell.

Good luck with the paper, hope you manage to find all the info you need, if i can be of any further help let me know

Regards
#:)
