CR 10. We have a login (Windows user) in SQL Server associated to a local Windows user domain/myuser, a myuser user is created accordingly in the database. Now, when I try to create a report and log on to the database with that user's crudentials, there is no success. The list of databases is empty in the "Database" drop down in the "Connection Information" dialog and I keep getting the "logon failed" message if I type the database name manually. Checking the "Integrated security" box works but doesn't do any good, since I'm an sa in the database. Any idea is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

If you receive an error when trying to login, post the error, statements such as "there is no success" is too vague.

Test that the user's account works from Query Analyzer on that machine, if not, then the account isn't working properly, if it is, then it sounds like the Crystal install may have a hiccup.

The "there is no success" is followed by a pretty detailed explanation. If you read the message, you'll see the "The list of databases is empty..." part and then you'll get to the "logon failed" message part. Is that what you meant by saying "post the error"?

Sounds like it's the wrong user/pw combination.

Perhaps you need to include the domain as well, as in:

\\domain\user
or
domain\user

Have you tried using Query Analyzer to see if the user can log in?

Or perhaps another SQL Server query tool, such as MS Access to link to a table.

Yes, I'm able to log on to the SQL server QA with this user crudentials. In Crystal though still can't do that, domain\username doesn't work either.

I'll assume that you mean that you can log on through QA from the same machine using the users credentials.

I've had empty database listings before but was still able to log in once I typed in the right database to log in to.

Not sure where your problem lies if that's the case, would seem that something is amiss with the Crystal install, but it's probably something simple I'm missing here...

I tried typing in the right database name but it gave me the "logon failed" error. I've had empty database lesing before as well and like you're saying, typing in the right db name would solve the problem, but it was a user with sql server crudentials (not Windows account, like now). Will probably have to talk to their tech support. Thanks for the help!
