Hi guys I have a question I have misplaced my setuo disks for a windows NT workstation. I found one article saying...on a win95 machine put the Windows NT Workstation cd in and run winnt /ox (that is suppose to allow you to create the disks) from the i386 directory. Well that doesnt seem to work there is a winnt.adm file in that directory but nothing executable, am I missing something or can someone tell me how to recreate those disks please. Oh and if this helps its Windows NT 4.0 sp6

The article you read is correct. Are you looking at the I386 folder on the CD? Do you have any weird settings for your folder options?

I'm in the proper directory e:\i386 and the file is winnt /ox but when I type that I recieve an error, not being able to run because its not an exe. I look in the i386 directory and the only file that is winnt is an .adm file I am trying this off of a WindowsNT Workstation CD should it be off a WindowsNT Server CD? or am I missing something small?

Are you sure you are looking at a NT workstation cd and not a sp or something related? I just pulled out my WS CD to verify Winnt.exe is in the I386 folder and Winnt.adm is not. Actually it sounds like you may be looking at a NT4 resource kit or option pack CD.

This works off the Workstation or the Server CD. Do you have another CD to use? You might want to try that. Also, what is the OS of the machine you are running this from? If it is an NT server or workstation, then run WINNT32.EXE /OX. This is the 32-bit version and runs a little faster...

Hope this helps:cool: - Bill

HEHE your absolutely right guys..It must be to early still. I was using the Micrsoft WindowsNT sp4 cd LOL. I have to find the origional workstation cd... You see I have a corrupt winsrv.dll file which means my hive is corrupt and I want to use a repair disk but first I need the 3 setup disks. Or another question if I make a boot disk by copying the boot.ini file and the other ones and boot to a prompt can I run the repair without the setupo disks? Thanks for the help I need to start drinking coffee. (now where is that cd.......)

Been there ... done that!

You have to go through the setup routine to use the ERD.

Sorry, this is an NT "Feature" LOL - Bill

Just to let you know, you don't need those disks, the only time you need those disk's are if you computer doesn't support "boot to cd" otherwise you will save sometime booting off the cd.... -FuZ
