NT Server Login failure

I have a NT 4 Server that runs SQL Server. It's a test server, running on a very powerful laptop that is used for developing the database. When I log in to NT, I enter my password as normal. It then takes a very long time to do anything, and when it does it puts up a pop up with the title Login Information. There is nothing in the box, and there are some buttons, marked OK, Cancel, Help. I cannot click on any of them, and there is nothing in the pop up. The box hangs and there is no way that I have found of getting any response.<br>

Anybody got any suggestions? (Yes, the database is backed up)<br>

Sounds like a SQL server service issue. Try hooking it up to the network and remotely going into the services (server manager). Disable the SQL server services (have you changed any passwords recently???). Restart the laptop.<br>

If that fails, disable any other services not immediately applicable to NT server (please leave the workstation and server services running) and reboot.<br>

If you cannot get to the services remotely, tell us what you have changed / installed recently for some clues.

The Server is not networked. It was set up with the MS Loopback Adaptor to allow SQL to talk to other apps. I tried to alter the config of the network card to allow it to talk to other machines, and when it rebooted, this happened.

If it has a network card in it, try taking it out, failing that try doing last known good configuration.<br>

I tried taking out the network card yesterday but to no avail. The re-install option had occured, to be honest it would probably be quicker than debugging! However, there is a lot of software on it that I use that if I want to install again is located at the other end of the country, so it is not that practical.<br>
