Here's a problem I can't figure out. I have an NT 4.0 server with service pack 6a that runs exchange 5.5, sp3. Recently, last 3 weeks, the server freezes. There is no pattern to this. Most times it is late night and then I have to get there early in the morning to make sure it's ok. When it happens, users are unable to email, access network folders and logon. The server will not reboot from the shutdown menu. I have to use the reset button. Once it does this, it comes back up and checks its drives. The event log does not have any errors or warnings until after the server comes back up. Then it gives the typical "server shutdown unexpectedly" messages.

So I think it's harware related, rather than a problem with the OS or software. What would be the possible cause? Should I change the power supply or could it be the processor or memory?

It has happened a total of 8 times in the last 3 weeks.

Thanks in advance. Joe.

Something tells me your exchange server is not "setup right". Are your databases on C: or elsewhere?
There is a very specific setup for exchange 5.5 that is crucial to redundant, and stable operability that MUST be followed.
Please respond with specific drive allocation info for you exchange server..
