Hi I hope someone out there can help with this

A site has three NT servers a PDC, BDC, and exchange all three report in the Application Log that the server is out of NT licences. Deleting old users temporarily removes these reports, but they appear each time the are servers rebooted.

I have tried MS tech notes

Q153140 - How to reset license info
and
Q194065 - How to reset license info across a enterprise.

But these messages keep on comming back. The reponse from MS to this was "to turn off license manager" as if you have the paper license its still legal, buts that sort of defeats the whole object.

I have run out of ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hey.
I had similar problems with License Manager a while ago and looked into it. In a nutshell, switch it off, absolutely, get rid, waste of processor time!
It runs as a service, disable it.
License Manager by its own documentation is not in anyway a legal requirement, it hoards old connections as thou they are current and doesn't revoke properly if at all. My favourite trick is that it dishes out whichever type of licence it feels like. You may have 100 per seat, for example and it'll give out a load of per server as well, without even utilising the licenses it has.
Microsoft play down its faillings but still accept they are there.
Keep you paper copies and invoices safe, its your only requirement.
The whole point is that Microsoft thought they should have such a thing, and this is their token effort.

Thanks Pritch, that looks like the only option. [sig][/sig]

I am glad I am not the only one with this same problem. sounds like good advice.
