Is it possible to install a new windows 2000 server on a NT domain with some NT4 domain controlers? If you can, will the windows 2000 server just sync with the old PDC and then take over the "PDC" role when you run dcpromo?

If this cant be done... then you have to install the new server as an NT4 server snd then promote it to a PDC and then upgrade it 2000?....or?

You can add a 2k server to an nt4 domain as a member server. I don't believe it can take a bdc or pdc role in an nt4 domain. You must upgrade the Nt4 pdc to 2000(active directory).

Are you sure you are an MSCE in Win2k? That is one of the things you have to learn. Yes 2000 servers will work just fine in an NT domain as stand alone servers. If you promote a 2000 server in your NT domain you will bring down your network faster than #$%^. It is time to brush up on your 2K books.
