Hi Guys
I need an NT/W2000 expert for this one.
I have recently upgraded several of our companies Delphi applications to use Dejan Crnila's CPort Comport driver component.
This came about because a customer of ours attempted to use the old version on a W2000 machine, and found that the communication were not working.
I concluded that this was because the com port driver component I was using was Not compatible with Windows NT
This component was the TCommportdriver by Marco Coco.
I changed the applications to use the new driver and tested them on a W2000 machine, everything worked OK.
But our customer returned with the following problem:-
It seems that if the old version of the application has been previously installed on a NT / W2000 Machine, then when the new software is installed the communications will (still) not work.
The Port connection appears to be OK, in that the drivers '.open' is Not returning an error.
I have tried removeing all traces of the old version that I can find Program files, folders, registry entries. but an installation of the new code will not work.
As I found before, Install on a machine which has NOT had the version with the old driver and everything is fine.
Installing on a Win9X machine even with an old installation and there are no problems.
Can anyone help?
Steve
