Hi,

I have a workstation using NT either 3.51 or 4.00 - needing to connect to a Novell 4.11 server. After the client has been installed, and preferred Tree/server has been set, after rebooting, the logon screen comes up, am able to browse the tree/servers, then i get this error msg:

LOGIN - 4.22.00 - 890:
The specified server is unknown.

But it will attach/authenticate to a Novell 5 server.

Any ideas?? The only thing i am coming up with is because Novell 5 understands IP more so than 4.11, and is picking up the clients IP address???

If you click on the Advanced button on the client login sreen, is there a server in the Server field? If so, remove it as this is most likely the cause of your problem. -----------------------------------------------------

I am able to browse the tree and the servers (we have 3 - only one being Novell 5) through advanced tab - i didn't know i was able to remove them from this screen?? I even remove all instances of the unwanted server from the registry, and it still gets picked up.. but will try removing from the advanced tab on the logon scrn - thanks for your help so far..
