We are having trouble getting the sample amqsputc program or a VB program to connect to an AIX queue manager, however we can connect using Java.

When we use the sample program or VB program we get an error AMQ9541, "CCSID supplied for data conversion not supported".

Any suggestions?

Are you using the Java 'Client' to connect to the remote AIX Queue Manager? Using Java bindings mode, and tools like the amqsputc program are used to connect only to a local queue manager.

The Coded Character Set ID Error is strange though. It implies that either the local or remote CCSID specified are not valid.

If you're still having problems, try setting the MQCCSID environment variable on your NT client.

SET MQCCSID=ccsid_of_your_data (probably 437)

See MQSeries Clients manual for full details.

Thinking about it though, you don't say when you are getting this error. I assumed it was for an MQGET but is this correct? Is it on the MQCONN?

Hope this helps,
Paul
