NT 4 server, xp clients.. laserjet2100 tn tray 3 not appearing

I've got an NT.4 print server with a Laserjet 2100tn installed. The printer itself has the optional 3rd paper tray installed.
I'm using the PCL 6 driver.
When I view the printer properties from the server, all 3 trays are displayed and I can choose tray assignments as one normally would.
However, after installing that printer on an XP pro client, I can only see two trays to choose from.

The reason this came to light in the first place is that people were choosing tray two (xp clients cant see tray 3), but the printer is defaulting to tray 3.

Any advice would be appreciated.
(please don't suggest getting a new operating system.. I've already been denied that request, lol )

Have you checked the Device Settings on the driver tab. By default the third tray is listed as not available. You can make it available in that location.

Hi TCouch.. thanks for posting up.
I have no driver 'tab' anywhere (that I could find).. but I did see an 'optional paper sources' drop-down menu on the 'configure' tab of the printers properties page on my XP machine. I was able to choose the additional tray and now it does appear as an option. thanks for helping me get that much straight..
The problem remains, however:
If I want to print letter (tray 2), the printer STILL takes the legal from tray 3.
so I can't currently make the printer default to tray 2 letter, as all the other laserjets in the office do. I have to leave tray 3 empty or fill it with letter.

If this helps.. it seems that when I go back to the server and view the tray assignments there ('paper' tab) it always shows 'legal' in the top dropdown and 'tray 3' in the bottom drop down. When I modify it to say 'letter' and 'tray 2' , the little 'link' checkbox gets checked. When I go back in, it's right back to 'legal' and 'tray 3' again.
