Iv got nt4 server using ntfs and service pack 5.
I have this group of users that do Cadd work and they wanted
to save their work to a folder on the server but only 1 person needs to have full control, the others need to be able to open the pictures and modify them then save them.
Iv tried everything that I know and I havent been able to make this work yet. In order for the users to modify the job and save it, I have to give them full control. I know that cant be right but its all I could get to work. If i dont give them full control then they can open the document
change it but they get an access denied if they try to save it. It will however not allow them to delete if i do this
but they have to be able to save the work.
What am I doing wrong???????
They need to be able to open a picture up off the server and edit the picture then save it BUT not be able to delete
any of the pictures in the directory.
Any help would be great
Thanks

you can sorta do this by going into the advanced properties and making them able to read, and change... that will stop the delete... but they can go into the picture and erase every thing, there is nothing i can think of to disable that...

If you don't want them to change existing docs over originals give them only read and add permissions in the advanced settings. The pics will open as read only, they can work on them then save them under a different name. Once saved, the pic becomes read-only to the user (but they can edit and save again under a different name...).

Should build up a chain of edits - numbering files will be important, eg pic1 version1.whatever
