Hi,
I currently have an NT 4.0 domain. I really want to test the upgrade prior to the real thing. I have a test server (TEST) that is an NT BDC. If i re-connect TEST to a mirrored test lab with only one or two other test member servers (2000), can i simly promote it to PDC of this mini NT Domain?

Also, when it is time for the real thing, i will use TEST, which will have been completely wiped out, NT re-installed, and rejoined to the live network as a BDC. Then i would remove the PDC, promote TEST, and upgrade to Win2k. My original PDC will not be upgraded or rejoined if all goes well (it has been a wonderful reliable work horse, i will throw it a retirement party and send it out to pasture) However, if something goes terribly wrong with the upgrade i would bring back the PDC as if nothing ever happened. Is this possible? Would i be able to rejoin the old PDC without it knowing someone was standing in for him while he was off-line?
