Recieving two errors when trying to do a client backup:

12/15/08 11:29:24 savegrp: command 'savefs -s dstnsun3 -c ag03018 -g WeeklyFull -p -l full -R -v ' for client ag03018 exited with return code 1
.
* ag03uw018:All 12/15/08 11:29:24 nsrexec: SYSTEM error: Connection refused
12/15/08 11:29:24 savegrp: ag03018:probe will retry 4 more time(s)
I can do archive logging and oracle backups but not a File system Full backup.
We are running Solaris 9 on both client and master.
We use version EBS Legato 7.2.

Thanks for any help
David

On the client, make sure that the /nsr/res/servers file lists the NW server. Then restart nsrexecd.

This should solve the problem.

Thanks for responding...I have made that change as well and still no go, still getting error.

thx,
David

From the savegrp manpage:

Connection refused
This means the client machine is up, but it is not accepting new network
connections for nsrexecd (or rshd). This could mean the client was in the
process of booting when the savegrp attempted to connect, or that the client
had exceeded some resource limit, and was not accepting any new connections.
You should attempt to log into the client and verify that it is accepting
remote connections. If the client is a nonUNIX machine, you may need to start
the NetWorker client on that machine. Refer to your ClientPak installation for
more information.

If you are able to do saver ioniated oracle backups using nmo then there should exisat no problem with nsrexecd becaus nmo is triggered from nsrexecd.

But what about the user ?
Oracle backups are usually run by the user oracle who is not a root account.

Therefore user oracle has no rights in "/".

check the remote user credentials of your client.

If everything seem s ok dio the fllowing :

login as user root

run : save -s myNetworkerServername /

saver ioniated" should read: "server initiated"

sorry for the typos :)

Thanks for the info. Should O put the client name under the cd /nsr/res server list on the master since I am using dstnsun3 as the storage node. Just a thought. What do ys think.

The servers file 'belongs' to the client module. And a client is the minimum you have to install on each node.

servers just defines the machine(s), from which RPC requests will be accepted.

Be aware that, whenever you changed it, you must restart nsrexecd.

Do I have to install the storage node on the client. Under client setup on the master server GUI, I used the master server as the storage node, would this cause any conflict.

No. Whether you do it directly (UNIX/Linux) or indeirectly (Windows) - the installation sequence is always:
1. Client package
2. Storage Node package
3. Server package

This is due to internal dependicies.
