I get this message sometimes when we do a backup.

nsrexec: Cannot bind socket to connection port in configured port range on system

I get the message from both Unix and NT-clients.
We have Networker 6.01 on a Solaris-server

Any suggestion on what it can be?

Do you have a firewall between the backup server and the clients?

It looks like it cannot connect to the backup server using the default connection ports. By default, these are 10001-30000

Had the same problem with Solstice backup (Legato with Sun label). Other applications are using the port range too. We where adviced to extent the range by command:

nsrports -s server -C 10001-35000

Success!
Regards Karel.

i would say: nsrports -s <server> -C 10001 - 30000 -S 7937 - 9936

thats more than enough for networker
