when i do nslookup ip1.ip2.ip3.ip4 i get:
Server: ipp1.
Address: ipp3#ipStandard

ip.ip.ip.ip.in-addr.arpa
name = another.name.net.
whereas when i type: nslookup real.server.name i get:
Server: ip1.ip2.ip3.ip4
Address: ipp3#ipStandart

Name: real.server.name
Address: ip1.ip2.ip3.ip4

what i want is when we do "dnslookup" by ip i want the real.server.name to show up instead of "another.name.net"
is there a way to do that or do i have to contact the host provider and have them change it in their dns records. i am using fedora core 3. thanks
ko

I might also add that it seems to be doing what it's supposed to - Name Server Lookup.

PcLinuxGuru and why do you think nslookup is a "windows thing"

nslookup was the original dns querying engine for *nix and
predated dig and host and is the codebase that they are
based on.. Pehaps someone should get their facts in order.
