NSD Errors

I have several users who are getting NSD errors. One user gets the error each time they log out for the day. Another user gets the error several times during the day, and it knocks the user out of Notes.
Is there a main reason that a NSD error comes up? Do I need to re-install Notes? or do something else?
Thank you for your assistance.

Reinstalling Notes might be a solution, in any case it is worth a try.

Personally, if NSDs are common for these users, I'd search along the line of what else is running on those machines. Do those users who are affected run a bog-standard company PC, or do they have specific applications ? Maybe one of those apps is conflicting in some way with Notes.

That's what I suspect.

I've got nothing to hide, and I'd very much like to keep that away from prying eyes.

Thank you for information. If all else fails, I will try reinstalling the user's Notes Program. Yesterday, on the user's PC, I ran three programs : Fixup, UpdAll, and Compact, and so far the user has not received the NSD error. I am waiting a couple days to see if the NSD error reappears.
All of our user's PC's are loaded with an company image file, that includes the same software. A select number of user's may have a different piece of software here and there, but for the most part, everyone's PC is loaded with the same programs.

If there is a company image and limited install rights for users, then you have done the right thing.

I hope it works out well.

Have you read through the NSD? It should tell you what the problem is. Admittedly, you might need to be an IBM software engineer to understand exactly what it all means, but it should give you some pointers. If it doesn't mean anything to you, why not open a ticket with IBM Lotus technical support and get them to have a look at it?

BTW: NSD is the diagnostics program which attaches itself to a problematic process and dumps sysinfo and resource usage for all notes (and other system) processes. You'll find the nsd*.log file in your IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT folder in the notes data directory.
