Ns1000 onelook

Hi all

I have a query on a onelook network and thought I’d ask you all here before Panasonic.. I have two ns1000 (master and master backup) failover works fine, I have about 300 ip phones at different locations registered to the master and under normal network conditions (MPLS) it fails over ok to the backup (located on different site)

The master location/site runs about 100 extensions, question is if at any point the MPLS link goes down and this site is no longer visible to the other extensions /backup will the other phones register to backup? Bear in mind the master is still functioning and 100 phones still connected ?


So my question is does the onlelook rely on a stable network connection for it to work properly ?

if the link between the systems goes down then the backup will come up. all phones should have primary and slave IP address and if the 100 local phones still connected to the master they will not reboot and try to connect to the slave. if other phones outside the system LAN cant find the master they will reboot and try master first then slave PBX address to connect

Thanks, so are you saying that the local phones will not work? So the link goes down, so backup kicks in, then the phones on local lan will attempt to register to slave but can’t access save so these phones will all be down but all other sites that can see the backup will work? So I cannot have the master and secondary working at same time ? And the remote phones will register to the backup ? It’s Not very clear on the docs.

it depends on configuration of links, if there is no path to the slave you wont be able to connect. it it is equipment failure it will work. if the link fails the local phones will stay working on the master, just wont be able to call remote phones internally

how are the trunks switching over to the slave unit is it sip trunks

OBT this is what I have

SITEA NS1000 MASTER SIP TRUNKS HERE (all phonesregister to this)
SITEB NS1000 BACKUP MASTER (all phones register here if master above goes down)

All works as should with regards to system failure. I still have to configure the backup lines at the backup master site.

It’s the data routing that will be interrupted that has brought these questions to light. The customer is having a disaster recovery day wherby all of his sites in UK will not be able to see master. (Apart from the phones connected at the master site on the Internal LAN)

The way I see it obviously the master will no longer see the master backup so the internal phones will continue to work, the remote phones on other sites won’t see the master so will attempt to register to backup, the backup should accept this as the backup does not see the master PBX anymore so now thinks it’s the master.

So really the two PBXs are running separately. Do you agree ?



Caveat being the main site can’t call to any of the others. But all others can talk to each other.

That sounds correct, it you have direct dials on slave system you can get the master system to dial the ddi for remote extensions as a second route
