Hey everyone, having an odd problem here. I'm trying to join a release 4.00 system to a 5.50 NRS as a failsafe. I think everything is configured as it should be, but not certain as I can't find a set of docs that goes back as far as 4.00. The h323 GK of the 4.00 system does register on the 5.5 signaling server, but the database won't sync to the failsafe.

The 4.00 system shows this:
oam> nrsDBShow
Local NRS IP Address: 10.10.30.150
Local NRS Role: Failsafe NRS
Primary NRS Node PRI_10_10_20_202: 10.10.20.202 UNKNOWN
Alternate NRS Node ALT_192_168_3_201: 192.168.3.201 UNKNOWN
Failsafe NRS: 10.10.30.150
ACTIVE
AlternatePermanentInService: OFF

When I try to force a sync from the primary NRS to the failsafe I get some errors:

oam> nrsDBSyncForce failsafe
oam> 26/09/2013 17:48:06 LOG0006 NRSSYNC: nrsDbSyncConfigXMLCreate is done!
26/09/2013 17:48:07 LOG0006 NRSSYNC: nrsDbSyncRegXMLCreate: registration xml file creation is done!
26/09/2013 17:48:08 LOG0003 NRSXfer: nrsXferConfigRegSyncDoHandler: Error sending reg file to 10.10.30.160
26/09/2013 17:48:08 LOG0006 NRSSYNC: nrsSyncFailHandle: FAIL to sync 10.10.30.160
26/09/2013 17:48:08 LOG0006 NRSSYNC: nrsSyncFailHandle: Fail date THURSDAY 26-09-2013 17:48:08
26/09/2013 17:48:08 LOG0006 NRSSYNC: nrsSyncFailHandle: There are no more failsafe currently registered
26/09/2013 17:48:08 LOG0003 NRSSYNC: nrsSyncReplyMsgSend: Cannot send message to dest task tDB for re-try
26/09/2013 17:48:08 LOG0003 NRSSYNC: nrsSyncFailHandle: Unable to send msg to tDB for re-try
26/09/2013 17:48:08 LOG0006 NRSSYNC: nrsSyncFailHandle: Sync finished with 1 failures. WAITING FOR RETRY 1

I checked for the obvious, pings are working from one SS to the other etc. Any pointers?

I dont think that ever worked the NRS needs to be at the same release to Sync, and the primary NRS needs to be at the highest level of the CS1K's on you network.

That's what I had found in the vague little bit of documentation I could find. The docs seemed to insinuate that mixed NRS environments were possible, as long as the main site had the highest version out of the bunch. Next step is trying to just get the two systems to trunk to eachother without sharing an NRS database.
