Getting ready to install five CS1000 Version 6.0 systems. I understand that the NRS servers (SigServers) have to be swapped out with COTS servers. We have about 85 4.5 and 5.5 systems.

I have been told that I would need to update all of these systems NRS if I change the current domain name on the NRS servers. I have been told that there is a limitation of 17 characters for the FQDN. Out domain name alone is 13 characters. When I add the server name, it has the possibility of being 28 characters. I would rather not have to touch each system if possible.

You will use a CPPM or COTS linux server and deploy NRS on that server. Any Linux server you have will require a FQDN. Not sure on length limitation... I don't think your new FQDN's will effect your routing. Backup NRS database and restore to new server. Make sure you look at new section in NRS. Main page when you login. I think its called "Server settings". Add your servers ip address.
