Hi!
We are having print problems in our network and I would like to know if anyone can help.
Everything was working fine for a long time, but since two days ago NPrinter (nptwin95) stops working many times a day, then it's necessary to reboot the workstation or go to nptwin95, select Printer/Clear then add the printer again to continue printing.
Our configuration is the following:
- A Pentium III 500MHz server with 256Mb running Netware 5.1 SBS SP4 and Borde Manager handling a 100Mbps network.
- About 35 workstations running Win98SE with Netware Client 3.30
- A Non-NDPS printing system with three workstations running nptwin95. IPX is being used only on these workstations. The problem happens with all of them, but not necessarily at the same time.
I changed two things on the network before the problem begun but I don't think it has anything to do with it:
- The workstations were separated in two Network cards ( 12 in one and 23 in another) on the server, now they are all in just one (the traffic, maybe?).
- I created an NDPS Broker and an NDPS Manager to begin the tests with NDPS to stop using the Non-NDPS printing system, but they are not working yet (not either loaded on the server).
Anyone can help?

Thanks
Marcelo

Hi

Try increasing your SPX connections on the client which is running the NPTR95. Nprinter uses SPX to communicate when using IPX\SPX. From memory try a seeting around 60.

Hi David,
Thank you for the suggestion. I changed the SPX configuration on the clients and will wait to see if the problem stops (if it begins to happen few times a day I will try new values). Toghether with it I will begin the tests with NDPS to stop using IPX/SPX.
Did it happen because of the traffic increase?

Regards

Marcelo
