I am installing ARCServe 2000 on a Windows 2000 Server computer that is serving 7 PC's. Most of them use W2000 but two are still with W98. It seems that ARCServe2000 will not backup those PC's...the log event says something like "node agent not supported in this edition". So, do I have to install W2000 on these systems or there is something obvious that I am missing??. Please apologise my ignorance and thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi,

Have you installed the Client agents for 95/98 on these two servers???

If not you can either install these agents or upgrade these machines to win2k

You are trying to backup with an ARCserve 2000 Workgroup Edition. This version is designed for single server operations, you cannot use agents or network shares to backup. Upgrade to ARCserve 2000 Advanced Edition ( or ARCserve 9 - no distinction between Single Server and Multi Servers versions ) to get this working. Windows 98 client agents are free with ARCserve 2000.

regards
