I have a issue where we want to resolve NDS using IP over frame. I'm assuming the way to do it would be either: NWHOST file or DNS. We can get a Windows 95 and 98 pc to work using the host file. The problem is Windows 2000 PRO doesn't use a NWhost file. I also tried different Netware Clients (4.7, 4.8, 4.83) with no luck.
Any Ideas??

Try the hosts or lmhosts.sam files under:

c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"
-----------------------------------------------------

On Win 2K and XP, right click Network Neighbourhood, choose properties. Select TCP/IP and choose properties. Go to ADVANCED and choose the WINS tab. Check 'ENABLE LMHOSTS LOOKUP' and import a hosts file. A decent router should cope with this in a better fashion

The LMHOST file did work. After further testing I came to a conclusion (strange but true).

Here is the situation:
When I install the Netware Client (4.83) on a Windows 2000 Dell Machine I set it up with IP only, the LMHosts file will resolve the NDS names fine over Frame Relay.

BUT....If I install the Client with IP and IPX, I can't resolve the Tree or Server over Frame even with the LMHosts setup(I can login using servers IP address).

If I uninstall the IP and IPX Netware client completly, reboot, and reinstall the Client using IP only, the name still will not resolve. My guess is Novell leaves a registry setting. Has anyone ran into this?
