Novell SMS error encountered

Has anyone come across an error 0x5172 when performing a Quick Check verification? I am performing a quick check after my backups and receiving a "Novell SMS errors encountered" and "Program cannot set file characteristics for ....".
The backup seems to run properly but quick check does not.
Any help is much appreciated!
