I was wondering if anyone knows where or how to track the messages sent by the Novell Send Message Feature. I work for a school district, and we need to monitor these messages. Any way to do it?
Don't take this wrong, but i don't really consider that a "Feature"..
No way to log them or monitor them. Best way is to turn them off. but you also need a way to control them so they don't get turned back on. It's all done at the client level.
The way to turn it off is in your Novell client properties under the Advanced Settings tab, and it's called "RECEIVE BROADCAST MESSAGES". Just set it to NONE or SERVER ONLY.
For a large school district or any large environment, you're better off pushing out a registry key or policy with Zenworks. And lock the client settings so the students cant go back and turn it on again. Lots of different strategies for deploying this, and it will depend largely on what components you are currently using in your network. ZENworks makes it easy.
