I have BEx 8 Enterprise on a NW5 server. It backs up itself and uses the remote agent to backup 2 other servers...or it used to. BEx has lost the ability to see 1 remote server. Several things happened at the same time and I suspect one of them has caused the problem.

1. The SNMP fix was applied to all servers. You'd think if this was the problem that the fix would have had a negative effect to BEx on both.

2. Old token ring boards in the server were disabled as ethernet is now the preferred architecture. The server not being seen by SMS is the oldest server and BEx was probably installed to it when the token ring was the only active architecture. This could be tested but the boss says "don't enable token ring".

I have unloaded and reloaded BEx on the Enterprise server and un/reloaded BEx remote agent on the misbehaving server. No luck. How can I check what by what means the remote agent is trying to communicate and/or where do I get some instructions for reconfiguring or reinstalling the agent so it will use ethernet?

The tech responsible for backups is on vacation and I discovered this yesterday. We've had no backup for 3 weeks. Ouch!
