Hello -

Hopefully this will save someone on a Novell Network a lot of time.

We recently upgrade our network to Netware 6. Immediately after the upgrade, 1/2 of our HP Laser Jets (different models from old 4mp, to 4000, 4050, etc...) started showing errors. Some were "80xxx Service Errors" while others were "MIO errors." Tons of restarts, resets, etc.... Neither JetAdmins could even see the printers. Nothing seemed to work.

Apparently, Netware 6 upgrades the "NDS Get Server Network Address Packet Reply." Well, when the printers see this incorrect parsing, the firmware of the printer halts. Stops. Kapluey!

Summary: Each of the printers' firmware must be upgraded to the latest version. At the time I wrote this, it was version x.08.04. Download the "HP Download Manager" it automatically updates each of your networked HP Printer's Firmware right over your network." (( Before You Upgrade!))

Needless to Say: You really won't want to do it "my way". I had to walk around to each of the error printers with a laptop and a x-connect cable - update each firmware independently, reset and so on, and so on.
