I have a user who is on a separate domain(Windows) at a different location. I am trying to get access to a database from our location in which we use Novell. We just setup a VPN there and can see files here. The problem is we just have a workgroup and theirs is a domain. The administrator at the location said the only way it would work is VLAN into this. Is there any other possible scenerio that we could take securely? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your problem here is not Novell related, more like an issue in connectivity between your clients over VPN and the servers in the remote domain. You should post this in a Windows forum
If you connect via VPN, do you have access to the subnet where the servers reside ie the domain controller/database server. If they are indeed on another VLAN that you don't have access to, then this won't work for you. Talk to the Windows admin at the remote location about this.
