Hi all,

I have an ETC folder on my SYS volume running Novell 5.0 - I was wondering whether this is a system folder as it contains a 4gb file called GROUP

Can anyone confirm that they also have this directory? And if so, is there a file by the name group?

Mike

The only thing I could find on the Novell Support site was if you had NFS installed on your server and wanted to uninstall it. In that TID, SYS:ETC\GROUPS was one directory to remove.

The TID is below for your reference:

Thanks for the response. From your links at least I now know what created the directory and file, however as we don't have any Unix servers on site I was puzzled as to where this came from. Investigating further revealed that the day this group file was created, was the day I had a NCE on site to help with some other problem. I'm guessing he added this for some reason. Therefore I'm reasoning that I can uninstall the NFS software

I'd check to see what this NCE did before you do anything - it could have an affect you are not aware of. -----------------------------------------------------
