This client always displays the same name to login everytime I boot the computer, even if I change it to something else, the original name will show. How can I fix this so it will default to the last person who logged in??? Thanks

I reinstalled the newest version of Novell for us when we had the problem and it took care of it. I also removed all of the *.pwl and *.acl files that pointed to past users, but not Microsoft programs.

On a different note, I removed the Novell login profile from the registry for those computers that we didn't want any name showing in the login remember area.

Thanks, I'll try it, I already tried re-installed the client, but it didn't help.

Right click on the red "N" in systray => Properties =>Location Profiles => Default => Properties

(there you'll notice the user name that keeps popping up)

Remove the name listed if you want it blank each time, or if you want a different user, type their user name in. There's also a small check box that if selected, should retain the settings of the last person that logged in.

Good Luck.

Hey michigan, that worked!! Thank You!!!

Just to add, very often, setting the parameters in the client properties box does not work, and is not written to the registry as it should.
In that case, I've found that by far the most effective means of insuring the proper default login parameters is to go directly to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Novell\Location ProfilesServices\{1E6CEEAsomelongfunkynumber}\Default

Under here you'll find or can create values for:
UserName (string value)
Save On Exit (DWORD Value)
and below that are two more keys, Tab 1 and Tab 2*, for
Context
Server
Tree
and a DWORD value for Clear Connections.

*I've never found a need to modify anything under Tab 2.

This should help if you get stuck.
