Hi,

A new customer.
We have to install a WIN2003 DC and configure a 2003 domain.
At the moment there are some CNC machines droven by DOS PCs,these DOS PCs get the data from a share on a Novell server.
We cannot modify the environnement, just integrate it.
Wonderful indeed.....
Now my question, how could I do that ?
Integration of Novell server
Integration of DOS PCs
and so on....

Thanks and regards

How integrated does it need to be, do the dos pcs need to access both the windows and novell box? Or can you set up a Windows domain for everything else and leave the existing DOS PCs in place.
For DOS PCs to access W2K3 you would need to disable SMB signing.

Will Windows clients need to access the Novell server?

What version of Novell Netware is it? If its 6 or 6.5 you can set the volume (share) to look like a Windows share.

If the Novell Netware server is an earlier version you would need the novell client on the PCs.

The DOS boxes has access to the Novell server only, they get the CNC program from it.
it's a Netware 5.1, File Server.
The rest of the clients ( nt,xp and 2000)have access to Windows and Novell server.

Microsoft's Directory Synchronization Services will keep NDS and AD in check. You'll need to disable digital signing if you want the DOS machines to talk to your Windows Servers.

News from the customer....
The Novell Server and the NT client will be replaced.
In this case the DOS clients must have access on the Win2003 server to get the programs to drive the CNC machines.
