hi!

I have successfully created an L2TP VPN tunnel between our
office LAN and remote office LAN. I can ping the LAN segment at the other end (192.168.0.2 can ping 192.168.2.2).
We have a Novell6 server on Office lan and we want to access it from the remote LAN. But we cannot log on the server, pls. help, tnx

This may be a routing issue. The fix can be done in a couple of different ways.

Look at the servers default gateway. More than likely this is the ethernet port on your firewall to the Internet. The device that is the default gateway needs a route to the remote network. Just place a route that will forward all traffic for the remote network to the VPN tunnel. Vice-versa for the remote site.

The other way is to give the server a direct route. Under the defualt gateway on each server place a route to forward traffic for the remote network to go to the VPN.

If this isn't your answer, check to ensure the NCP port 524 is not being filtered between the networks. Brent Schmidt CNE,Network + [atom]
