I currenly have 6 pcs running win2kpro, win98se, and unix hooked up to a linksys BEFSR41 4 port dsl/cable router and 2 linksys EZXS55W 5 port switches. All machines would need access to the internet. Aside from the Novell server the 5 remaining pcs would vary in what operating system they run. There is pc B running win2kpro and 98se, PC C running 98SE, PC D running 98SE, PC E, running win2kpro and 98se and PC F running UNIX. I have them with the exception of the novell server, set-up and networked fine right now peer to peer fashion for quite some time. What I would like to do, is setup a novell 5 server and I want the 5 remaining pcs to be novell clients running windows. I want it configured where each pc would have to login to the novell server for network authentication. Once the pcs login correctly (depending on what rights I assign them) they would then have access to the network and the dsl/cable router and the internet. So what I am trying to say is, I want the novell 5 server to be a gateway to the linksys router. Is this possible with the linksys router? Also in the near future maybe 2wks to a month I would like to add a Windows 2000 server. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated...

Stanley, this is absolutely possible. If you are running Netware SBS, then all you need to do is add another NIC card to your server and configure the BorderManager portion of SBS. If you don't have BorderManager, then that is what you are going to need in order to use NetWare authentication as a means of deciding who can/can't get out through that portal.

To summarize it: you will need a second NIC card in your NetWare server. NIC 1 is connected to you LAN, and NIC 2 is connected to your LINKSYS router(you won't be able to connect any pc's to the switch/hub portion of the router). Configure BorderManager and set up proxy services so that you can use NetWare authentication to accomplish your goal.

That's pretty much it. (if you have SBS, the config will be much easier than if you don't)

Hope this helps.

Thanks I will try this out...
I have no idea how to setup a novell server, but it shouldn't be too hard...
