Hi,

I am experiencing a limitation of Novell OS. It looks like it is not possible to access to a Novell server through an address translation Firewall. According to a TID on Novell web site developpers were working on that issue in January 1999. Does anyone have any further information on this ? Is there a workaround ?

Thanks for you advise.

Cheers,

Frenchman

I have a couple of netware servers going through two types of firewalls. The problem you have is not the novell os, it's the rules and filter configurations you have in your firewall. The best thing to do is to set up 2 nics, one private and one public in your firewall. Then let the fire wall do the Nat.. From experience it is better to have static nat rather than dynamic, it is less overhead on processor. By using 2 nics, you can have a total class A ip scheme on the inside of the firewall, thus giving you unlimited ip addresses. Also if you are using Bordermanager, you can make a mac authenticate to Bordermanager to limit internet access as well as filter support, but you must use Netscape 4.01 or later for MAc or IE 4. or later minimum 56 bit.
