HI there....we are running Win98 on 15 laptops. All are configured the same. We use the Microsoft Netware client to log onto a Novell network. In the last two weeks...we have been getting printing errors from a few of the machines. The errors happen at anytime. The unit will print...then two minutes later when the user tries to print again...he gets the message. The message says the printer is offline printing will resume when the printer is online again. When I clear the que and try to reinstall the printer I get the same message...that the printer is offline. This however is not the case. I've been installing the Novell client32 to correct this until I find another answer....any ideas??? We have about 200 computers on the network and this isn't a problem with the computers using the Novell 32 client3.21. Thanks bunches.

Had something similar a while back. One minute fine, the next couldn't print a thing. It only happened to this one printer/department.

Temporary Fix: I added a new printer (same printer - differnet path) to each of the departments PCs. I pointed the network print path to the tree and not the "Q". When the user's PC would stop printing, simply point the print job to the "other" printer - with the different path - and printing would work just fine again. Usually would last 'bout 5-7 days, then "...can't print again." - Point it back at the "other" printer (with the "Q" in the path) and everything was fine - well, only for another 5 days or so.

Yes - this was a pain. Ended up resetting each printer's network card to factory defaults. Removed/Deleted every print Q, server and device associated with the problem printer. Rebuilt it with NWADMIN from the ground up. Once rebuilt - run DSREPAIR at the server to clean settings/NDS.
No more problems.

Good Luck ~
