I am trying to set up an NW4.11 server to run purely with IP. I have configured the IP protocol via Inetcfg and it works fine as I can ping the server. The problem is I cannot log into from my clients. If I add IPX then everything is fine. Why can I not communicate with the server through IP? The server also runs DHCP and is assigning addresses to clients fine.

You can not have a 4.11 server running in pure IP. It will only run Netware IP which is not pure IP.

The easy answer. You can not do it.

The IP ping works but the netware will not communicate over IP. Netware IP is encapsualted ipx. Lee Smith

To be more positive, Netware 5.x WILL run in pure IP environment, or in mixed IPX/IP. Upgrade to 5.x and you're all set for pure IP if that's what you need. Recommend having IPX as an option tho, so you can use it if you need it.
