Hello

Being a bit stupid, we have lost the password for SBS 8.1 and now cant get in. Is there anyway around this, does anyone have a nice bit of software that will crack the password???

Thanks for any help.

Not by any chance the default: "symantec" (without quotes)

Hi

Nope tried that, i hate it when i dont write things down.

Cheers

Yes there is a way to change the password back to Symantec using the registry. I can't recall exactly how to do it but if you call Symantec Enterprise support they should be able to help you.

Here is how to change the password:

1) Shut down the service

2) Change this key in registry:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\INTEL\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\ConsolePassword

to value 1084A085DC6BD2D755D4D6A7726

This is the default password: symantec

3) Start the service back up
