Hi,
I have Mercator 6.7 with Windows 2000 server.

Is there a way to set up an automatic notification system (e-mail) that can be sent when the Production Event Server get's hung?

On one server, windows environment it might be hard to do. In our early days we wrote a process on another box that dropped a dummy file regularly. The process then waited before checking the status of the dropped file.

If the file was still in the drop folder an alert was raised otherwise an event map had cleaned it up.

Today we have tools that monitor the status of various services on multiple machines. We're also moving away from the event server to another tool that can manage all events, DSTX or not, on multiple platforms.

eyetry,
Thanks for the tip. You idea in the "earlier days" sounds logical....but with another box involved. How can I replicate that logic with Mercator?

Are there settings in somewhere in the abyss of Mercator that can send notification or trigger someting that I can capture?

I have a map that sends a message to the Ops PC on a regular basis. If they don't get it they check the Event Server is runing.

CLK430, to have Mercator/DSTX watch itself you'd need to run DSTX on multiple machines or upgrade your current version from 6.7 and use 'Multiple Event Services' (think that's the right term.
