Hi,

We have a NetWorker server 7.2.1 under W2K SP4 with a client NetWorker 7.2.1 with NML 2.2.1
There is a SAN backup and LAN backup.
For Notes machine, the backup is made by LAN.
The library is an ADIC one with 4 drives.
The problem is when there is a scheduled backup for the Notes machine; at randomize time, the backup failed. It is not always at the same time that the backup failed. And sometimes the backup is successful !
The daemon log file shows:

avr. 07 08:05:41 networker: --- Unsuccessful Save Sets ---
avr. 07 08:05:41 networker: * helium.te.sav:NOTES:/notes/data 1 retry attempted
avr. 07 08:05:41 networker: * helium.te.sav:NOTES:/notes/data nsrnotesv: The operation was aborted
avr. 07 08:05:41 networker: * helium.te.sav:NOTES:/notes/data nsrnotesv: Backup failed for /notes/data/stats.nsf
avr. 07 08:05:41 networker: * helium.te.sav:NOTES:/notes/data nsrnotesv: Exit code: 3
avr. 07 08:05:41 networker: * helium.te.sav:NOTES:/notes/data aborted due to inactivity

The robotic log shows :

SenseKey(Not Ready[0x2] Info(0x0 0x0 0x0 0x0) [ASC(0x4) ASCQ(0x1):[becoming ready]] SKSV(2) C/D(0) BPV(0)

The inactivity timeout parameter for the group where there is the Notes Machine is fixed at 0.

Is there any idea ?
Thanks,
Best regards,

Marc

Hi marc!
Found this on EMC's KB. Try setting the timeout parameter
in notes.ini. Use one of the following two alternatives.

1. Set BACKUP_TIMEOUT=xx, where xx is the number of minutes to allow for the backup before timing out.

- OR -

2. Set BACKUP_NO_TIMEOUT=1. The effect of this is that there is no timeout.

Note: If the Notes.ini variable BACKUP_TIMEOUT does not exist, then the default value is 15 minutes.

For details, please refer to:

Cheers!
Maverick

Thanks NWNinja,

But we had already put BACKUP_NO_TIMEOUT=1 on the notes.ini file.
The problem does not change.
Sometimes the backup succeded and another times it failed.
It's such as "random".

Is there others things to verify ?

Thanks,
Best regards,

Marc
