Notes incremental backup

Has anybody any idea why I get various errors with different agent versions if backup mode is incremental, full works but as GFS gets to incremental notes fails.
I got TSlog in Archive mode and all. Notes is 5.0.9. With lates cumulative notes agent bugfix I get E8604 Failed to start backup <db name>, EC=DBagent Error - (69) \&quot;&quot;Read/Write error in named pipes.\&quot;&quot;.

Coud anybody who has notes incr. working list all the versions & config so I could try to replicate them ... ?

Have you applied sp3 to the notes agent?

If so, you may wan to try the following.

- Uninstall the notes agent (just the use of add/remove should suffice).
- Then reinstall the notes agent with the notesp3.exe.

I've done that a dosen times ... I have to use NA version right ?

What do you mean by NA version? you should be using the notessp3.exe alone, not any other version.

While installing U can choose there NA or OFA version of notes agent.

Now I wonder why was I so sure that NA version was the right way to go that I had not even bothered to try OFA one... can anybody tell me what is the NA version good for anyway ?

hehehe, no problem Pezz, I am glad it worked!!!! Now I believe the NA may be specific to older/nwer noted databases, I'll have to do some research, but I have happy its working now...

The problem finally clared out ... got response from CA tech support. I wonder why inf like this aint in agent readme ...


With NA API Version Incremental/Differential Backup is not Supported.
In NA API Version
--Transactional Logs Backup is Possible
--Incremental/Differential Backup is Not Possible
--Full Backup is Only Possible
--To Backup the Transactional Logs Daily Need to Modify the Job Daily
to add the Transaction Log. Because once the backup of Transactional
Log is done it won't appear in the ARCServe Backup Manager.
In BAOF Version
--Full/Incremental/Differential Backup is Possible.
--Backup of Transactional Log is not Possible.

Ahhhh, so you'll have to either backup one way or the other.... hmmmm quite annoying.
