We have 4 GM SE licenses (6.7.70226 dBase version) plus GoldSync. 3 computers sync with the "master". Entries in notes tabs on Master computer are now out of calendar order (i.e. instead of starting with Dec 09, first note may be Jan 07 and so forth). Notes in other 3 computers seem OK. Any ideas?

Thank you for your help with this. We do rebuild, sort and verify on a regular basis but do not purge the tlogs. I've been led to believe the tlogs shouldn't be purged and, if they are, make sure to keep the last several months of logs. What's the best way to purge the logs.

The TLogs really have nothing to do with your issue, but as a matter of protocol I do recommend that you purge them daily which, if you don't change the date, will still maintain 30 days worth of changes. I Purge every TLog ( View | Logs | right-click Purge ) every day. Check everything on the screen, but do not change the date. Remember that deleting anything in dBase has no immediate effect unless you Rebuild, Sort & Verify.

As for your issue, please explain it in a little more detail. Maybe give some examples.

In the notes tab, some of the time stamps are not in reverse chronological order with newest on top like they should be but are out of sequence. As an example, the time stamp: *** CM (Charlie McDonald) *** Thursday, November 19, 2009 2:51 PM (and info associated with this entry) comes before the time stamp: *** CM (Charlie McDonald) *** Monday, November 30, 2009 1:37 PM when it used to be the other way around. This seems to happen only on our "Master" computer, not on the computers we synch the Master computer to. (I call it a Master computer because it's not a server, but it where most of the data is put in.)
Do you know anyway to get the time stamps and their associated notes and other info back in sequential order? Yes, we do put a fair amount of notes in the notes tab, and yes I know we shouldn't do it that way, but have been doing it like this for about 12 years now and this is first time I've seen a problem. Maybe it's finally catching up to us.

This usually happens when you exceed the limitations of the Memo field ( aka Notes ). This is why we always emphasize that Notes should NOT be used for Historical activity information.

If you are syncing everything from the Remote-side to the Server-side, and you think that the information on the Remote-side is good, then just copy Contact1.* from the Remote-side to the Server-side overwriting the files on the Server-side after you have backed up the Server-side.

This may or may not resolve your issue, but it is worth a shot. Oh, and stop using Notes for Historical activity. GoldMine has an area for that, and it is called a Completed Activity that can be found under the, you guessed it, History tab.

If you want to work outside the norm then you are your own worst enemy.
